Welcome to Angelou Class - Year 4

Angelou Class is taught by Mrs K Rourke and supported by Miss A Bridges, Mrs H Woolfenden and Mrs J Cash.

Year 4’s class explorer is Maya Angelou. Maya Angelou is a remarkable writer, poet, performer, and civil rights activist whose life shows us what courage, determination, and hope can achieve.

Maya Angelou was born in 1928 in the United States and faced many difficulties growing up. Instead of letting these experiences silence her, she transformed them into strength. She discovered a love of reading and writing and through storytelling she found her voice again. Throughout her life, she used her talents of writing, performing and speaking to encourage fairness and kindness. She became a global symbol of strength, creativity, and hope.

We chose Maya Angelou as our class explorer because she shows us that bravery is not about never feeling afraid, but about choosing to rise each time we are faced with a challenge. Her life teaches us to speak up for what is right, to treat others with respect, and to believe in the value of our own stories. She encourages us to be brave learners who believe in ourselves, use our voices wisely, and understand that our words and actions can make a positive difference in the world. Through her example, we are inspired to be curious learners, thoughtful friends, and confident individuals who help make the world a better place.
