Lancashire County Cricket Finals

Ansdell's year 4 mixed cricket team represented Fylde in the Lancashire County Cricket tournament at Blackpool Cricket Club. The sun shone, the children smiled and the standard of cricket at this young age was incredible. We began in great form and at lunch time we had won 3 and lost 1 game. After lunch we had some really close games and unfortunately came out the runners up. One match was lost by 2 runs and the team who beat us by only 1 run came out as overall winners which shows how high the standard was from all teams. I was immensely proud of all the children. It was a long time to keep up the pace and concentration in very hot weather but there were no complaints and the children were eager to play every match. A massive well done to Sammy Curran, Charlie Kells, Ted Thompson, Shay Menzies, Daniel Chapman, Martha Cairns, Mia Wood, Eve Clarkson, Izzy Thomas, and Lois Moreley.

.Unfortunately the year 5 and year 4 cricket tournaments were rained off. The year 4 team will now play at Blackpool CC on Thursday July 13th. The year 5 tournament will not be re-arranged.

Better news for the year 6 team who manged to play their competition in spite of the damp, cold weather conditions. The boys won all 3 of their group games against Freckleton, The Willows and Our Ladies. They went on to play Hall Park in the semi-final and manged a win in a very close match. Heyhouses were the team to beat in the final and, although I think we had our best game, they proved too good. We were worthy runners-up with all games played in good spirits and great team work. Well done to Jack Williams (Captain), Isaac Chapman, Sep Porter, George Gilbey, Gabriel Singleton, Freddy Nichol, Toby Curran, Sam Lord and James Dobson.
