Outdoor Inter-Schools Athletics

Fantastic result tonight at the inter-school athletics. Ansdell came 2nd in very close and hard fought contest with 9 schools taking part. Every child who took part contributed to the team total and should be very proud of their effort and performance. As well as a great team result some of our pupils excelled individually. Well done to Theodore Mawene, Autumn Wharrier, Penelope MacBeth and Jack Williams, who all won their individual events. Thanks to all parents, staff and supporters who came to cheer us on.

The Inter-schools Athletics Tournament will take place on Monday 26th at AKS, starting at 4:00.

The athletics team went to wire and Fylde to compete in the finals on Wednesday 20th January 2016. We did very well coming 6th out of 12 schools. These are some events we did well in:

  • Under and over
  • Relay (2 laps, 4 laps and a tremendous 6 laps).
  • Obstacle
  • Speed bounce
  • Sargent jump
  • Long jump
  • Triple jump
  • Chess push
  • Javelin

Well done to everyone who competed!

Even though some people couldn’t make it, we still did very well with are amazing coaches Mrs welch and Sam.

Last Thursday a group of year 6 and a few year 5 pupils took part in the indoor athletics tournament at AKS. We have a good record in this event, having won it for the last three years. We were unable to have much practice due to weather and curriculum restraints but the children sorted themselves out at lunchtimes and put on a fantastic performance. I was very impressed with their maturity and the team spirit was superb. This time we came second but as the top two teams go forward to the next round we are still in the running. Each time we have bettered our position in the Wyre and Fylde finals, finishing 3rd last time. So hopefully, with a bit more practice, we will be able to improve our performance in the finals. A massive well done to all who took part.

The Wyre and Fylde finals are at Blackpool Sports Centre on Wednesday 20th January, from 6:00 to 8:00.
